Normal Course Sequence-
The following is the normal course sequence that most students follow. There may be exceptions or a student may need to take some classes in a different order.
Freshmen
English- 9th grade Lit or 9th grade Lit Honors
Math- Algebra or Algebra Honors
Science- Environmental Science or Honors Environmental Science
Social Studies- World History or World History Honors
Personal Fitness/Health and Safety
Electives- 2
Sophomores
English-10th grade Lit or 10th grade Lit Honors or American Lit College Prep
Math- Geometry or Geometry Honors
Science-Biology or Honors Biology
Social Studies- American Government/World Geography or American Govt Dual Enrollment/World Geo Honors
Electives- 3
Juniors
English- American Literature or Dual Enrollment English (Advanced Composition and British Literature)
Math- Algebra II or Accelerated Pre-Calculus
Science- Physical Science or Honors Physical Science
Social Studies- US History or US History Dual Enrollment
Electives- 3
Seniors
English- British Literature or Dual Enrollment English (either 1st year or 2nd year)
Math- Pre-Calculus or College Readiness Mathematics or Technical College Readiness Mathematics or Advanced Math Decision Making or College Math (Algebra and Statistics)
Science- Fourth Science (Forensics Science, Chemistry, Chemistry Honors, AP Biology,
Social Studies- Economics or Honors Economics

Accelerated/Advanced Classes- CHS offers a great selection of accelerated classes including Honors (3 points), AP (Advanced Placement) ( 5points) and Dual Enrollment/ College Classes (7 points). Our Dual Enrollment classes are offered through Georgia Northwestern Technical College but are taught by our own high school teachers at CHS. Students will receive college credit when they pass a DE class and can possibly receive college credit from an AP class depending upon passing the AP Exam. There is a fee for the AP exams. (If a student decides to withdraw from a Dual Enrollment class there is a deadline. Be sure to adhere to this as a W is very different from an F.)
Foreign Language Classes- CHS offers Spanish I and II classes to Juniors and Seniors.Foreign Language is not required for graduation from CHS but is normally required for admission to a 4 year college/university.
